  5. c03The  summer  has  been a drag, the Scene came to a standstill.  There have been
  6. several  releases and parties but nothing to get the Scene out of its lethargy.
  7. Even #Amigascne looked like a one man party.  Was it the heat, was it a wave of
  8. tourists  among  Sceners?   Certainly  not.   It was the usual summerhole, when
  9. people  lay  down  for refreshing and then starting to work on releases for c04The
  10. Partyc03.   When  common  people wonder about the first Christmas preparations get
  11. started  in  late September already, we as Sceners can only smile:  We start in
  12. July.   Still,  c04Newt/Abyss  c03brought  it  to  the point when thinking about this
  13. summerhole:  f4"It remains only the question how many do not return this time."

  15. f1Factually  the  fluctuation  from  the  Amiga  and the Scene in common is never
  16. higher  than in these summermonths.  It seems like hormones get on the rush and
  17. force  former  Sceners  to  reorientate.   Some  get  the  feeling  they missed
  18. something  and  start  for  the  "real  life" with womanizing (if possible) and
  19. partying.   Some  feel  like  they  have to get a cling to "business world" and
  20. start  their  career which for unknown reasons doesn't allow any kind of hobby.
  21. Some  fall  into depression for having lost something only they do know and see
  22. no  sense  in continuing.  Ah yes, some also go for PC.  Whatever the reason it
  23. was  that made people not return this year, they picked the wrong time to leave
  24. us, Lucile.

  29. f1c03At  the very verge of the c04World of Computer'97c03,  where the future of Amiga will
  30. be  decided  once  more, good things are to be expected.  We all should know by
  31. now  that c04Phase V c03managed to release the first series of c04CyberstormPPCc03 604e/200
  32. mid  of  September,  but  the W.O.C.  is said to feature also the c04Blizzard PPCc03.
  33. You are able to get a A1200 processor card at 180 Mhz for DM 800,- only.  How I
  34. envy  you!   A4000  users  see it different:  Cyberstorm PPC 604e/150 DM 1295,-
  35. excluding  68040/060 processor.  So, Amiga users with an 68030 only have to pay
  36. DM  1400,-  at least for not much more performance.  Phase V goes strange paths
  37. sometimes.  Anyway.  c04Amiga International c03will have to answer a lot of questions
  38. finally how the future of Amiga looks in their eyes.

  41. f2c02                            EN-NERVED ASSEMBLY

  43. f1c03The  c04Assembly  c03seemingly  remains  a  stable  factor  when it comes to parties,
  44. although  the Amiga Scene is divided in its opinion about the event.  It stands
  45. to  fear  that next year's Assembly might be without Amiga support.  This year,
  46. however, the Finnish elite Sceners were defeated by c04Nerve Axis c03definitely.  For
  47. a  long  time  we haven't seen a consequently designed release like this.  Also
  48. the  middle  parts  delivers  more  or  less  standard effects and although the
  49. quality seems not to reflect the core, the impression that the intro, the outro
  50. and  especially  the  linking  of  the parts delivered can only be described as
  51. outstanding.  Therefore c04"Pulse" c03must be considered the best release so far this
  52. year.   A  pathgiver  at the right time, it stands to hope for "Pulse" inspired
  53. demos  for  The  Party'97.   If the demo itself didn't convince you:  Never got
  54. c04"Nexus7"  c03more applause at The Party'94 then when the linking with the breaking
  55. wall appeared.  Everyone seems to be able to do bump- and environmentalmapping,
  56. who  considers  3d-Objectmorphings  as  revolutionary is dumb - the only way to
  57. collect sympathy nowadays is the overall design.  So go for gold!

  61. f2c02                           CALLING ALL STATIONS

  63. f1c03To  boast what is going on, we call you to the front.  The first one to release
  64. an  appropriate  PPC  demo  (means:   including standard effects, using the PPC
  65. directly), can be sure to get the production reviewed and to get interviewed by
  66. us;  we  will  make it safe that he/they find(s) himself/themselves in the holy
  67. caves  of  pioneers.   Just  start  producing now and mail it to the c04Generation
  68. c03staff  (here:  RokDaZone) with the exact day of release.  We will check out the
  69. release  and the dates and inform you if you in fact are the first one.  No fun
  70. demos allowed, however, we mean real demos.

  72. Whatever  may happen this next year from now on, it can only be good for Amiga.
  73. The Scene is not about to die as we can see from what happens on #Amigascne.  I
  74. often  wonder  what  all these PC users are about to do in there?  Haven't they
  75. left the Amiga to go PC?  Why don't they find their own channel?  Because there
  76. isn't  one  with  that  particular  Amiga feeling.  That's it.  As long as they
  77. still are with us, they are not lost totally.  And we aren't either.
